So awhile back, I went on this rant about email marketing. I was sick of my overflowing inbox full of messages primarily from people trying to sell me stuff. I was even more sick of people trying to pry my email address out of me with intrusive and sometimes passive aggressive popups.
You know the ones I mean. The ones that force you click yes or no to subscribing before you can actually get to the site, and your choices aren't simply yes or no, but something like "Yes, I love cute puppies and want to see more!" versus "No, thanks. I hate puppies even more than I hate kittens."
No, what I really hate is this passive-aggressive list building popup. And your stupid website. Jerk.
So, in usual Laura fashion, I went totally overboard and just deleted the damn sign up box. Earth scorched. Problem solved.
With time (and some actual interest in my books from people who don't actually know me personally), I've realized that's probably not the best approach. So, the email sign up is back, hidden away at the bottom of my contact page. I'm not asking or begging or bribing. If you'd like an occasional email from me when I publish something, sign up. Or don't. It's up to you.
